What do you do all day?

Many people think being a stay at home mom is easy.  It is not easy.  It is so rewarding, but harder than I ever thought it would be.  This story was on Janelle's blog and it was too good not to share.

"A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?" She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world did I do today?" "Yes," was his incredulous reply. She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."

6 Months Old

I cannot believe that Sophie is already 6 months old. Actually she has been 6 months old for about a week now. On Thursday she had her 6 month doctor appt. and shots. She is a healthy little girl. She is now 15 pounds 12 ounces and 26 inches long-just perfect.

She wishes she could keep up with her siblings, but can't quite yet. She is constantly in motion-kicking, squirming, rolling, etc. She is just such a little doll face. She has really taken to eating baby food lately. She is trying to sit up independently, but she is not quite there yet. She has yet to give me a complete night of sleep, but that's OK. I have decided sleep is over rated :)

It makes me sad that my baby is getting so big, so fast. I always have to remind myself to enjoy every day with my little ones. I am overwhelmed some days, but I love these little spirits I have been blessed with.

This cracked me up. Sophie looked like she was hangin' in the stroller like a big kid with her arm up. Right before the picture was taken, she had one leg up on the stroller too. I think it was Kate who also used to do this when she was little.

Saturday Fun

Just some pictures of family fun on Saturday. It was a nice enough day to play in the water and get a little wet. Kids always love that!

Park and Ice Cream

This evening, after dinner, Dan and I took the kids to the park. It is always nice to enjoy time together as a family. It seems the kids get more skilled and daring each time we go to the park. Here are a few fun pictures.

Sophie loves being outdoors with the big kids. I cannot believe that she is 6 months old today. She is growing up way too fast.
Kate loves the swing. She would stay there forever if she could. She always says, "push me super dooper high."
